At a glance

The Travel and Sag indicator is a smart little tool that lets you easily read the sag and travel use on a bike equipped with a coil rear shock.

About the brand

Reverse Components is a German based, rider owned company founded in 2004. Founded by downhill enthousiast Peter Schmidt (the man behind Solid Bikes) to bring high end quality products to the Mountain Bike market. Not only do they have a big roster of sponsored riders (like Nico Vink, Andreu Lacondeguy and Clemens Kaudela), they also work closely with the German EFBE testing facility to guarantee high end quality.
Besides offering the usual stems, bars and pedals they also have a wide variety of unique products like the tested Travel and Sag indicator. Think of stuff like a single speed adapter and chain tensioner to replace your rear derailleur, a can holder and a stem that lets you switch between 31.8 and 35mm handlebars.
Sadly we could not find any reference to a sustainability practice or goals set to reduce emissions.

The product

It’s so simple that you wonder why no one ever thought of it before, the Reverse Components Travel and Sag Indicator. A smart little tool that takes minutes to install, and take away the guesswork when setting up your coil rear shock.
The device can be bolted on any current shock with and without piggyback and only adds 40 grams to your bike's weight. A small rubber O ring indicates the sag when setting up, and while out on the trail you can read easily if you managed to reach maximum travel or not.

Out on the trail

Installing the device is dead easy. The only thing that can make it a little more difficult is if your shock is hard to reach within your frame. But even then it’s just a matter of removing your shock, adding the tool and putting it back.

Once set up it works a treat. It immediately tells you if your sag is where it should be, and if you have to add preload or swap for a different spring. Also when out riding it can show you immediately if you’re using maximum travel or not, helping you with the compression and rebound settings for a specific trail. It’s not in the way either, so we left it on our bike for the time being.

Verdict

Great piece of kit if you’re riding a coil shock in the rear. Especially if you are racing and would like to get accurate measurements on shock travel use and performance.
