Etna, the world-famous volcano in Italy, just wasn’t enough for Richard Gasperotti. Here at Mondraker we’d already guessed that might be the case, but we had no idea just how far he’d go in his search for the limit on his Foxy Carbon RR.
‘Over The Edge’ tells the story of how the Mondraker rider, Richard Gasperotti, and his team decided to go to Guatemala to shoot a video of the ascent and descent of the three most active volcanos in the country: Pacaya at 2,552 metres, Acatenango at 3,976 metres and Fuego, the most active of the three, at 3,768 metres.
It isn’t just a story bringing you the nerves and the intensity of riding down a volcano on a bike during an eruption, with gasses venting, smoke, and lava everywhere. It’s also a spectacular testament to the human element of the whole team and the local guides.
It’s an exceptional short. For fifteen minutes you’re with them in first person, sharing the adrenaline and the experience of overcoming the limits imposed by the most hostile of natural environments.
Kudos to Gaspi and his team from all of us here at Mondraker.
