Building a Mountain Bike on an Austrian Mountain Summit

Bike building is an art generally confined to 4 walls, an array of tools and often, not the most creative landscape. Scott Laughland wanted to build somewhere a little different and figured, why not build a bike where it belongs, in the mountains.
Saalbach Hinterglemm seemed a perfect location with its jaw dropping back drop and beautiful landscape. So, Scotty took the West Gipfelbahn’s first lift of the day armed with all the tools he’d need, the frame, suspension and parts to assemble a bike. He hiked around until he found the perfect spot to set up his ‘workshop.’ The outcome; his custom 2022 SCOTT Ransom Tuned edition.
Bike spec: SCOTT Ransom (size large) equipped with a Shimano XT groupset, 10 – 51t cassette, 4 piston brakes and 170mm cranks with a 32t chain ring. Finished off with PRO Bike Gear components, a Fox 38 fork, DHX shock and Transfer post, Schwalbe’s Magic Mary and Big Betty Tires and milKit’s tubeless system.
Keep an eye out for the first ride at sunset down the infamous Hacklberg Trail.
