YT Capra Core 2
When it comes to hard-hitting enduro mountain bikes riders can rely on YT Industries to offer the perfect machine for the job. The gravity experts have now introduced an additional aluminum option to the lineup of the legendary enduro mountain bike. The CAPRA Core 2 boasts the same frame details, geometry, and kinematic concept as the new generation of the carbon CAPRA that was released in 2021.
After the latest evolution of the CAPRA was in initially introduced with a carbon frame as the centerpiece of Core 4, Core 3, and Uncaged 6 models, YT is putting an emphasis on cold hard metal for the enduro platform in 2022. After kicking off the updated aluminum platform with the limited-edition CAPRA Uncaged 9, YT now also offers a Core model with the new frame design modeled from hydroformed aluminum. Whether you send the biggest drops on party laps in the bike park or head out for all-day enduro adventures in technical terrain, the CAPRA Core 2 will get riders up the mountain comfortably and demolish every challenge the trail poses on the way back into the valley. As with the carbon CAPRA variations the CAPRA Core 2 comes in two purposefully built options – a 29-inch build and an MX build.
GEOMETRY & FRAME
As is the case with its carbon counterpart, the hydroformed aluminum CAPRA is designed with two different playgrounds in mind. The designers and engineers created purpose-built seatstays and customized suspension kinematics – shorter seatstays and increased end-progression for the MX builds versus longer seatstays and slightly reduced progression for the 29er version. Both frames have a steeper seat angle, slacker head angle, and increased reach compared to the award-winning predecessor. Pedaling kinematics have been improved significantly, while the suspension capability has been enhanced and riders enjoy an improved fit and position on the bike. The aluminum version of the CAPRA features an asymmetric chainstay which improves the weight-stiffness ratio. The new CAPRA Core 2 will be available to riders around the globe in five different sizes from S to XXL. The 29-inch version offers 170 mm travel in the front and 165 mm in the rear making this option the fastest on the trail, with great rolling capabilities and a planted feel. The MX build features the best of both worlds with a 29-inch wheel up front and a 27.5-inch wheel in the back which is perfect for those riders out there that dig the playfulness of the smaller rear wheel while sending it through the bike park.
SPEC
Core 2 stands for a high-performance frame combined with componentry that delivers great performance and efficiency pleasing both beginners and expert riders. To tackle the most demanding trails, the CAPRA Core 2 features the FOX 38 Float Performance fork. The improved GRIP damper maintains consistent damping and increases durability making sure riders always make the most out of their 170 mm travel. The suspension package is completed with the new FOX Float X Performance rear shock with 170 mm or 165 mm of rear travel depending on the wheel size. Precise gear shifting is enabled by the SRAM NX drivetrain and SRAM Code R brakes with 200 mm Centerline rotors front and rear provide the necessary stopping power and modulation. A highlight is certainly the Crankbrothers Synthesis Enduro Alloy wheelset with the specific tune offering more stiffness in the rear and more compliance upfront while carrying the MAXXIS DHRII and MAXXIS Assegai over roots and rocks. This goat is ready for all the shredders out there looking to lay their hands on a high-performance and durable frame with quality components that will deliver Good Times every time you hit the trails.
