The main theme of the summit ‘‘Reframing mountain biking’ includes new perspectives on what is sustainable, and it challenges all speakers and participants to be open to new ideas and solutions to secure a bright future for mountain biking in all its aspects. The IMBA Europe summit is a great opportunity for members and partners to come together to learn from each other, discuss common problems and issues faced, and enjoy a great few days of mountain biking in a beautiful destination.

WHAT IS THE IMBA EUROPE SUMMIT?

The IMBA European Mountain Bike Summits have been held annually since 2014. Initially, to bring IMBA Europe’s widespread collective of member organisations together to share good practices, start new projects and discuss trends and challenges in mountain biking. Over the course of years, the IMBA Summits have attracted an increasingly diverse range of participants and organisations. From mountain bike advocacy groups, trail builders and professionals in the bicycle and tourism industry, to land managers, academics, public authorities, and health care practitioners. More and more professionals are working in the emerging domain of mountain biking and the need to learn from each other, exchange knowledge, to get inspired and build partnerships has only increased.

The European Mountain Bike Summit is a two-to-three-day event, combining keynote speeches from opinion leaders with workshops, site visits, project meetings, panel debates and social activities, including daily (group) rides.

The first report from the transnational Erasmus project, Sustainability and Environmental Education in Outdoor Sports is now available. The results of this survey highlighted that mountain biking and hiking were the two sports identified as having the greatest perceived impact.

SUMMIT PROGRAM

Following on from the successful model of previous years, the topics covered at this year’s Summit will be divided into relevant subthemes: Sustainable trail design, construction & management; The building blocks of mountain bike friendly places; Sustainable mountain biking tourism.

A full program will be delivered diving into each sub theme through keynote presentations; panel discussions; breakout sessions and outdoor activities. PARADISE FOR BIKES

Interesting and inspiring content aside, the IMBA Summit is also about the experience, and enjoying the destination- Val di Sole. Val di Sole BikeLand is known as the ‘paradise for cyclists’ offering more than 20 routes and 300km of trails. Whether it is an epic ride, hitting the jumps in the Bike Parks or enjoying a relaxing family ride along the many cycle paths, there is something for everyone for a truly complete cycling experience. There will be ample opportunities for Summit participants to enjoy the offerings of Val di Sole. Some of the highlights will include dinner in an alpine mountain hut with astro trekking; the Val di Sole Bike Festival; the annual IMBA Epic on the “Tour Grande Guerra” route.
