In Euskera, the word “Ona” means “good.” In Orbea’s case, “Onna” has more than one meaning, as it’s also the name of one of the first revolvers that the brand manufactured around 1840. Today, the Onna makes its debut as a bike, a new model to spark the curiosity of MTB with loads of fun, control and efficiency.
Designed from a blank slate to meet the needs of those looking for their first real MTB, the new model brings with it all the trends and technical details of modern XC bikes, along with peace of mind from Orbea’s lifetime warranty.
Fun merges with control, comfort and efficiency
When beginning one’s journey into MTB, it is common to feel hesitant. The body is getting used to new movements as you discover what it’s like to ride on dirt and trails. With this in mind, Orbea focused on delivering control, comfort and efficiency in its new Onna platform, where the bike seamlessly elevates the adventure on this new ride.
The bike’s geometry is oriented to provide the greatest control in all situations, with a comfortable riding position to conquer any new adventure. This is coupled with Shimano’s powerful and reliable hydraulic disc brakes, fitted on all Onna models means new riders can safely explore any trail.
Unlike other bikes in this price range that typically use a straight head tube, a tapered tube provides more stiffness at the front and, therefore, more control and precision when handling the bike. It also opens the door to accessing higher-end forks that are lighter and have more adjustability.
Orbea selects the frame material for each type of bike and considers the usage and type of rider; for Onna, that means choosing hydroformed aluminum.
Perfect size for any rider
One of the novelties of Onna is its comprehensive size range, with five sizes that adapt to any person. Riders can choose between XS, SM, MD, LG and XL, with wheel sizes that have been adapted for each frame size for the perfect balance between performance and handling.
The XS build features 27.5” wheels, while riders can choose between 27.5” or 29” on size SM, depending on the characteristics and preferences of the rider. The largest sizes — MD, LG and XL — come with 29” wheels.
Loaded with valuable details
Bikes in this price range often receive a low level of attention, although this has not been the case with Orbea and the new Onna, where they paid special attention to numerous aspects to give it a higher value.
For example, it’s unusual to see models in this price range with internal cable routing, which is the envy of many higher-end bikes. All Onna models come equipped with internal routing, which translates into a bike without noise or rubbing which could damage the frame. Not to mention, it’s aesthetically cleaner, making it a more elegant bike with minimal lines.
Although some dropper posts can be more expensive than Onna itself, the frame is compatible with internally routed dropper posts. Should a rider want to continue developing as a biker and tackle new, technical challenges or a higher level of riding, the frame is prepared to take them there.
Onna also has mounting points to accommodate different rack configurations and includes a mount for a kickstand. These two options are sure to pique interest in those who are looking for an urban or commuter bike.
Onna will also be available in a Junior version with five other models.
