Blueprint: Hand building trails in Cumberland, BC
The very best thing about building your trail is the process. Everyday going to the woods and cutting something new without really having any idea what it is going to be until it’s finished… When you come into a new zone the dirt is almost like your paint. It’s a certain colour and certain texture. You can find a really mossy open section of forest and the second you cut that ground it will be red mineral rich soil. It really inspires the creativity.
Being out, checking an area and thinking of a way to weave a trail through that is an artistic expression. Trying to create a narrative through the areas… There are millions of different ways to build a section of trail, but everybody has it own and it’s kind of nice to put your own artistic touch to it.
