So – big news here with YT introducing their first E-Bike, what do people think? Read on for what YT themselves have to say:
With the DECOY, YT Industries brings their first E-MTB to the market and proves that the brand can also build toys with batteries that own the steeze. With an iconic design, innovative technologies and an unbeatable performance on the trail, YT interprets the E-MTB topic in its very own way and garantees customers even more fun while riding. Three models of the DECOY can be pre-ordered from today on via the webshop www.yt-industries.com. The first batch will be available mid May.
An E-MTB from YT? Seriously? Those don’t go together. Forget about it!
Whoever thinks that E-MTBs are for old or lazy people has really missed the boat. Until now! The drop of the brand new DECOY will be a wake up call even for the hardest doubters, will demonstrate the mountain bike world what’s possible with an E-MTB and that they are incredibly fun to ride. For that reason alone they are a perfect fit for YT.
“It’s like downhill with a built-in shuttle”
The DECOY opens up a new world of mountain biking. It lets you go further and discover new trails that you would never have ridden before, and it also lets you really make the most of your time on the bike – all of which means more fun. With the DECOY you will master climbs that you have never even attempted with another mountain bike, promised!
It’s a YT: downhill-genes uncaged
An E-MTB from YT must first and foremost be able to prove itself worthy of its downhill genes. That’s why, just like on all bikes, YT relies on their proven and award-winning V4L (Virtual 4 Link) rear suspension linkage that literally sticks your bike to the ground, but still has enough pop to launch off every root and enjoy the airtime. The 165 mm of rear travel combined with our new-school geometry creates a trail weapon with extra power, the likes of which you have never seen before. Additionally, YT have minimized the pedal kick-back to avoid any negative influences on the suspension action.
New-School-Geometry unites ergonomics and performance
The geometry of the DECOY delivers consistent performance on long rides and on every trail, whether uphill, downhill, technical or steep. The steep seat tube angle and the long chainstays ensure awesome climbing performance while the slack head angle settles the bike’s handling and gives you a feeling of control when things get steep and fast. The dynamic reach balances the bike perfectly and makes sure the overall length is kept in check. As a result, the center of gravity is deep and leaves you feeling like you’re sitting in the bike, with a perfect mix of stability and agility at your disposal. The FlipChip lets you adjust the BB height as well as the head tube and seat tube angles to adapt the geometry to your preferences and your type of terrain.
Technical features: creative solutions
The 540 Wh battery of the DECOY is YTs own development. For dependable performance and long lasting power, it comes with thirty battery cells of the very latest technology – in fact the very same type of cells that Tesla features in their cars. The battery is fully integrated in the downtube, held in place by two dedicated bolts and can be charged both on and off the bike. Powering the 250 watts Shimano STEPS E8000 engine the DECOY masters even the steepest trails. The engine runs silent, is one of the lightest engines on the market (2.8 kg) and, thanks to its slim design, is ideally integrated into the frame. The lightweight and compact Shimano STEPS E7000 display lets you choose between three support modes and achieve a range of about 100 km (Eco) with the DECOY. As usual, YT also put a lot of love into the details that really make the difference. Technical features such as internal cable routing, double-sealed bearings and integrated frame protection not only emphasize the high quality standards of the brand, but also simplify the handling and maintenance of the bike and extend the lifetime of the DECOY.
29” & 27,5”: Best of both wheels
Just like on a motocross, the DECOY makes use of two different wheelsizes on the same bike – the best of two worlds. The 27.5” rear wheel is fitted with a 2.8” tire that can be run with lower pressure without becoming unstable, which creates a larger contact patch that in return generates massive grip. Up front, the 29” wheel with its 2.4” tire is sharp and direct enough to let you carve through every turn with precision.
Progressive design
Design plays an important role in the development of new models at YT. Just look at the DECOY: With the E-Enduro you can join any group of mountain bikers without sticking out like a sore thumb. It just looks damn good! The design language is progressive, clean and expresses perfectly both the technological competence and the high quality standards of the brand. From the integrated rechargeable battery to the volume-matched tube sets, the compact display and the material and colour design: The DECOY bears the distinctive signature of the YT designers, both inside and out, and thus blends in optically with the existing YT range.
DECOY range
Three built kits of the DECOY are available, each in five frame sizes from S to XXL. Every model is equipped with YTs custom 540 Wh battery, Shimano’s STEPS E8000 engine and E7000 display.
CF Pro Race
At the very top of the range, the DECOY CF Pro Race is the right choice if you are looking for a lightweight E-MTB with high-end components, and maximum adjustability. The FOX 36 Float Factory 29” E-Bike+ fork featuring 160 mm of travel and the FOX Float X2 Factory are Kashima-coated and offer first-class damping, control, and adjustability. The electronic XT Di2 transmission provides lightning quick and precise shifting across the 11 gears of the e*thirteen TRS Plus cassette. The lightweight e*spec Race carbon wheels keep the weight down while ensuring stability, traction and security at the same time thanks to the 29”/27.5” size combo. SRAM’s powerful Code RSC brakes have been paired up with 200 mm Centerline rotors to guarantee the best possible braking performance, while the seamlessly adjustable FOX Transfer Factory dropper post and Renthal’s 800 mm wide Fatbar 35 handlebar round out this top-shelf build in style.
CF Pro
The DECOY CF Pro is equipped with the high-performance FOX 36 Float Performance Elite 29“ E-Bike+ fork with 160 mm of travel as well as the FOX Float DPX2 Performance Elite shock. The Shimano XT transmission ensures precise shifting across the wide-range, 9-46T TRS Plus cassette from e*thirteen, while SRAM’s Code RS brakes provide reliable stopping power in any situation. E*thirteen‘s e*spec Plus wheels deliver speed, stability, traction and security at the same time thanks to the 29”/27.5” size combo. The SDG Tellis dropper post and the 800 mm Renthal Fatbar 35 complete the build of the CF Pro and make it the right choice for those who are looking for an E-MTB with a high-performance motor as well as high-end components, but who prefer mechanical shifting.
CF Base
The DECOY CF Base marks the entry into the YT E-MTB category. Featuring a carbon main triangle with an aluminium rear end, the CF Base comes equipped with the RockShox Yari RC 29” DebonAir E-MTB fork with 160 mm of travel and the RockShox Deluxe R shock. The XT transmission from Shimano ensures precise shifting, while the SRAM Code R brakes with their 200 mm Centerline rotors can always be counted on to slow you down when you need to. Up front, the DT SWISS HI900 SPLINE wheels in 29” size bring speed and stability, while the 27.5” Plus version out back provides extra traction and security. The SDG Tellis dropper post and the 800 mm Race Face Aeffect R 35 handlebar complete the DECOY CF Base build.
