ION Clothing
In terms of fits and fabrics ION never stops progression and introduces the 2019 collection featuring brand-new technical gear for bad weather along with fully re-designed bike wear styles. Another new approach can be seen in the Bike shorts Scrub Amp and Traze Amp: These two are amongst ION’s best-selling products and will also be available in long sizes for skinny, tall riders.
Tee LS Scrub Select – Sleek & waterproof long-sleeve shirt
ION’s idea behind the Tee LS Scrub Select was to stick with the moto-inspired and versatile style of the Scrub line even in bad conditions. Thus one can find the perfect match for enduro runs, DH or Big Mountain riding on muddy trails and in bad weather. The Tee LS Scrub Select comes in a regular fit made of weather and windproof material (5.000 mm Water Column & 5.000 gr/m/24h breathability) which makes rain jackets and extra layers unnecessary.
While rain jackets tend to be rather inflexible, this long-sleeve is made of 4way_Stretch fabric allowing freedom of movement in all directions. On the inside ION used soft touch material that feels very pleasant on the skin without having the sticky feeling of a rain jacket. The neck-wide construction makes getting in and out the jersey easy without needing a zipper. The included Clear_Optics wipe on the inside of the jersey can be used to clean goggles scratch-free. Another extra is the Ticket_Port with small zipper that can be used to store bike park tickets or other small belongings safely.

Bikeshorts Scrub Amp Long & Bikeshorts Traze Amp Long – For all those tall and skinny
ION embraces individuality and the right fit for all shapes and sizes. In order to do so ION introduces a new version of its two best-selling bike shorts called Scrub Amp and Traze Amp: They are still available in the regular sizes and the regular length, now they also come in a slightly longer version with a slightly tighter fit around the waist – the Bikeshorts Scrub Amp Long and Bikeshorts Traze Amp Long. These extended versions are especially made for tall and skinny people that are struggling to find their right pair of bike shorts.
When fitting around the waist they often are too short. And when sitting right on the knees, they might come way too big on the waist. Now, the new version with a long sizing covers the gap between knees and shorts that often appears on tall riders. Of course, it’s more a matter of styling decision but now everyone can decide themselves which style to go for.

Hybrid Jacket Traze Select – Weather protection and ventilation in one
This completely new item to ION’s Traze line is made for the weather-specific demands of trail riders. On the one hand many wish rain and wind protection but on the other hand need a good ventilation if riding in unstable or warmer conditions. The Hybrid Jacket Traze Select combines these two properties into a technical bike-specific jacket offering reliable weather protection
and cooling ventilation the same time.
The Hybrid_Console paneling mixing 3-layer laminate and double weave fabric protects against rain and water splashes as well as wind. Laser cut ventilation holes in ION logo design offer strategic ventilation and release moisture from the inside. The articulated sleeves and flex hood construction make straps unnecessary and therefore contribute to the light weight. Partly taped seams and a bonded construction make the Hybrid Jacket Traze Select a robust companion on the trails. The ergonomic bike fit suits the natural body position while biking, prevents the jacket from riding up and keeps the zipper from wrinkling. Two chest pockets guarantee enough space for small belongings and the Clear_Optics wipe can be used to clean the goggles scratch-free.

ION Footwear
Now in its third year of designing footwear, ION is taking the art to the next level: the range of bike shoes is expanding while the construction of these kicks is simply getting better. From 2019 on, all flat-pedal shoes will feature the brand-new Pin_Tonic Sole Concept. At the top of the flat-pedal line is a new model made of leather – Raid Select. For those riding clipless pedals, it is the Rascal Select that has been crowned top model. It features an aramid-reinforced upper plus an upgraded version of the Serpen_Tie Velcro closure system.
Raid Select – Full Leather Flat-Pedal Shoe
Leather is unbeatable in terms of styling where shoes are concerned. It also contributes to the climate, comfort and durability of footwear. ION‘s brand-new Raid Select takes advantage of just these properties and is made of pigskin on the inside and cowhide leather on the outside. Its specific flat-pedal sole has undergone a comprehensive update of the rubber blend, both on the sole and on the midsole: for 2019, the brand-new sole concept called Pin Tonic mixes a super-sticky, yet durable rubber with a softer midsole to ensure maximum grip and long-lasting characteristics.
ION’s top-notch flat-pedal shoe Raid Select comes with an asymmetrical shaft including the Ankle_Pad to add some protection on the crank side. The cowhide leather on the outside contributes to comfort and durability, making the Raid Select definitely a high-grade bike shoe. On the inside, the Ortholite Eco Plush Sole made of recycled material and pigskin lining have been added for superior comfort. The toe area features a pre-shaped box to protect the foot when hitting rocks or roots while the asymmetrical shaft avoids painful contact with the cranks.

Rascal Select – Trail-Oriented Clipless Shoes
ION Rascal goes deluxe: the Rascal Select features a full aramid-reinforced upper to make this shoe sturdy and resistant to impacts. The brand-new Serpen_Tie 2.0 fastening technique is adjustable in length and avoids overhang, thus adapting to the individual needs and different shapes of the foot perfectly. The new system prevents the straps from flapping around since the length of the strap can be set individually before the first ride and can then be left in precisely that position.
The Airprene_Gaiter made of neoprene guarantees a perfect fit around the ankle, keeps dirt out and lets the feet breathe even during hot sessions. Solewise, the Rascal Select is based on the already established SupTraction Rubber Soul CL (CL for clipless) but with a reinforced shank and an Ortholite Eco Plush Insole. In this combination it offers much more than uncompromising power transmission onto the pedal: its construction combines stiffness in the longitudinal axis with flexibility in the lateral axis and the upper. This torsional construction principle helps to prevent the foot from tilting on the pedal. Special dedica-ted climbing and pedal zones on the tread ensure traction both on and off the pedal. Furthermore, No-Sew_Reinforcements and a pre-shaped toe box absorb forces when the foot hits a rock or roots, protecting both the shoe and its occupant.

ION Body Armour
Since the very beginning of ION’s bike department, protection has played an important role within the brand: seeing what riders really need, ION keeps adapting and reinventing its body armour portfolio to satisfy the demand for high quality in this field. For 2019 ION has finally supplied the missing link within the range of knee pads and is introducing the K-Traze. It fills the gap below the legendary K-Pact and now replaces ION’s K-Lite. Another completely new piece in the range is designed to watch your back: the Protection Vest Scrub Amp.
Protection Vest Scrub Amp
Watch your back ION thought – and had those in mind that are neither willing to run a back protective backpack nor want to end up using those sauna-style pieces associated with knights on horseback… Anyway, in looking for a solution, ION has developed the Protection Vest Scrub Amp. The integrated lightweight SAS-TEC back protector absorbs light impacts (EN 1621-2, Level 1) and can be easily removed for cleaning.
A protective extension – filled with HD Memory Foam – down to the lower back, has two back pockets where you can easily store stuff without the risk of being injured by your own equipment. Thanks to the layered arrangement of the protective plates at the intersection, you experience the same freedom of movement as without protection. This vest offers superior comfort on the front and around the neck through the Safe-Lock Zipper placed laterally instead of at the front.

K-Traze
The K-Traze does justice to all the all mountain and enduro riders that are looking for the next generation of high-performance knee pads. With its K-Traze, ION was looking to offer a lightweight, flexible pad with excellent damping. The goal was that simple. And demanding. The development team therefore started to work on the protection-to-weight ratio of these pads. Weighing only 360 g per pair (size Large), the K-Traze meets the demands of the official protection certificate EN 1621-1, Level 1 easily. Incidentally, it is in fact so good that it only very narrowly missed level 2 certification. In other words, the ratio of damping and weight is way better with the K-Traze than ever before: one gram of knee pad reduces the (laboratory) impact forces by 0.94 kN – its predecessor K-Lite achieved just 0.77 kN per gram.
Anyway, ION knows that many bikers want protection but don’t fancy the feeling that comes with wearing pads all the time, especially when riding uphill… But this is where the idea of lightweight, yet sturdy knee pads like the K-Traze come into play: The very flexible SAS-TEC main padding gets pre-shaped by an integrated hard-cap ensure great fit around the immediate joint area. A Velcro strap around the upper part combined with the Ionic_Fit and the Snug_Loop secures the fit without compromising on the freedom of movement. Super_Perforator_Neoprene lets heat escape easily. Fine_Mesh parts further enhance breathability to ensure a pleasant bike experience even with pads on. For those that still don’t like the feeling of wearing pads while pedalling a lot, ION has introduced another version of the K-Traze – the K-Traze Amp. It follows the same principle, but has zippers on the side that makes it easy to get in and out quickly and without a struggle.
