Bike pack not going well? If you’re struggling with stability with your biking rucksack then take a look at this new line from heavy hitters USWE. For 2018 the Swedish brand is back with tweaks and additions to the line-up that’ll make this the best year ever for anyone who rides or runs with a pack.
Taking the humble hydration pack and infusing it with their own brand of Scandinavian flair, their packs look great, perform brilliantly and last long enough that they really count as an investment rather than a mere purchase.
One of the headline features for 2018 is the new heavy-duty harness on the Explorer and Prime packs. It’s built to deal with bigger loads by combining light and durable materials with USWE’s tried-and-tested No Dancing Monkey design. That new harness couples with the adjustable back plate to make for one of the most comfortable ways to carry a load on two wheels, and it works so well you don’t even need a support strap for the waist.
At the other end of spectrum is the new Zulo 2 hydration belt, a waist-mounted hydration system for anyone who needs to drink on the go but doesn’t need a whole bag with them. Along with the 1-litre bladder there’s a central pocket complemented by two smaller side storage compartments. It’s an elegant solution for any trail runner, and won’t leave you frustrated carrying a load that bounces around disrupting your stride.
Last but by no means least is the Lizard 16. It’s a hard-wearing daypack designed to be your ideal companion for days in the saddle. 16 litres of storage arranged in multiple compartments means that if you can’t fit it in there, then maybe you’ve packed too much? Plus it’s compatible with USWE’s hydration bladders so you can carry more water on days when you need that little bit extra.
