Titan Desert: The Most Epic MTB Race Through The Dunes Of Morocco

On its twelve edition of the Gaes titan Desert by Garmin, the prestigious and tough MTB race by stages would like to remember its first editions and will focus the six stages of the test on the deserted area of Erfoud, on the Morocco’s southeast.
(Morocco, 15-11-2016). The Gaes Titan Desert by Garmin will face from April 30th and May 5th 2017 a new edition that will bring us back to the past and to the early beginnings of the test. A total of 6 stages and more than 600 km between the dunes and sand tracks, in a test that has won the international prestige and converting its 500 participants into authentic heroes of the desert.
“This test has been the toughest and most impacting experience in my life” or “A brutal experience, specially mentally, I have discover the inner strength that you can have”, are just some of the sentences most repeated by more than 3000 titans who have ever participated at the Gaes Titan Desert by Garmin.
We talk about six stages in which the cyclists are launched to the adventure and have to overcome long days under a scorching sun and temperatures of more than 40º. On arrival a hot bath and a comfortable hotel mattress are not waiting for you, but the haimas of Berber style that the organization transfers after each stage and turns into camps. A place of enormous peace that encourages dialogue between cyclists and moves us to a story of the Arabian Nights.
In its twelfth edition, the Gaes Titan Desert by Garmin will take us back to twelve years ago. In previous editions, its route has taken the titans through the Atlas and Middle Atlas area of the country, crossing high mountain areas. On this occasion, the Erfoud area will host the six stages of the test where the desert, characterized by its dunes, sandy slopes, oueds and extreme heat, will be the common denominator of the test.
The mountains will be left behind to find in almost every stage the dreaded and exciting dunes. Especially unique will be the fourth stage, in which the titans will have to travel without having any type of road signs. The GPS of each participant and his navigation ability will take them to the final point through the way that each one believes more timely, through mandatory Checkpoints and Hydration Stations.
The Gaes Titan Desert by Garmin has revolutionized the world of mountain biking by giving bike enthusiasts a unique format, in which they not only have to travel, but also live in the camps. We are probably talking about one of the tougher but also more exciting experiences that participants will experience in their lives.
