All New Trek Carbon Stache

How about those funky chainstays and fat tyres? The new Trek Stache promises to lighten up your trail riding by upping the fun and dropping the weight with this new carbon 29+ trail hardtail. The repositioning of the drive side chainstay could revolutionise back wheel swapping, chain cleaning and replacement – as long as you don’t mind the funky looks!
A year ago, Trek took a flyer on Stache, a unique 29+ trail hardtail with oversized 29×3.0˝ tires and a remarkably nimble frame that would allow hardtail diehards to experience the thrill of the most technical terrain. Stache won over riders around the world for its confidence-inspiring handling, capability, and sheer fun. And now, we’ve packed all the best parts of the previous platform into an expanded lineup with lightweight carbon options and key spec upgrades, setting a new benchmark in the trail hardtail category.
The newly expanded Stache lineup includes two OCLV Mountain Carbon models (Stache 9.8 and 9.6), along with two Alpha Platinum Aluminum models (Stache 7 and 5). Stache will also be available as a carbon frameset.
The new OCLV Mountain Carbon frame of Stache 9.8 and 9.6 weighs about 400 grams less than its alloy counterpart, and also benefits from a more aggressive geometry with a 15mm longer reach and a bottom bracket that’s 5mm lower.
Stache 9.8 is equipped with the all-new Rock Shox 29+ Pike fork, Bontrager Line Pro 35mm cockpit, and Bontrager Drop Line dropper post. Bontrager’s Line Pro 40 OCLV Carbon wheels complete the lightweight carbon package. The ultra-capable Stache 9.8 tips the scales at 27.2 lbs.
All carbon and alloy models feature additional travel, with an increase in suspension from 110mm to 120mm.
All-new Stache models will be available at Trek retailers and on trekbikes.com this September.
