The Norco stand at Eurobike

The Norco stand at Eurobike

Founded in 1964 Norco began producing mountain bikes for the North American market in 1984, the brand has a lot of history and plenty of heritage. With a range of bikes that covers just about every conceivable spectrum of our sport Norco have something for everyone, and that includes your kids!

The headline act at Eurobike is the new Revolver, their race winning XC machine that has been dominating everywhere it goes. It’s aimed at the XC rider looking for the ultimate in performance offered in both 27.5 and 29er wheel sizes there are 4 models within the range specced from race ready to more affordable options. The frame is only available in carbon though so expect to part with some cash if you want one of these!

Clever features include the following:

Gravity Tune
A simple solution to a complex problem, Gravity Tune fixes the front-centre/rear-centre ratio across all frame sizes, effectively optimizing geometry for every bike in the line. As a result, weight is always optimally distributed – regardless of rider height. Available only on Norco Bikes, Gravity Tune means equal ride characteristics and unrivalled control for all.

Smoothcore
Norco’s Smoothcore process enables us to create a strong frame structure with very smooth inner surfaces, using the least amount of material possible, resulting in reduced frame weights.

Art Suspension
Advanced Ride Technology, or A.R.T., is the direct link between engineering and experience. More than a single suspension platform, A.R.T. is a system that we optimize for each intended use. Norco’s engineering team strategically manipulates pivot locations to precision-tune suspension kinematics, ensuring that every full suspension bike will excel in the environment it was designed for.

ArmourLite
Norco’s carbon frames are manufactured with only the highest quality materials, right down to the resin we use to hold everything together. Our superior quality ArmorLite resin produces an exceptionally strong bond that enhances frame strength and increases impact resistance.

The Torrent is a new hardtail in the line up, featuring the new 27.5+ wheelsize. Designed from the ground up around the new wheel standard the bike features aggressive trail geometry and promises to be a heap of fun to ride. When it comes to aggressive hard tails, a category we love to ride, this new plus format makes a lot of sense and it is great to see brands embracing it. The bike features the new Boost 148 and Boost 110 standards for the axles to improve stiffness and also Norco’s Gravity Tune geometry. A RockShox Yari Plus 130mm fork sits upfront whilst SRAM GX looks after gearing and Avid take care of the stopping duties.

The Range is the Enduro bike in the line up, available in Carbon and Alloy options there is a model and price to suit everyone. The 7.1 featured in the image below is well specced and priced at $3,650. With a slack 65.6 degree head angle and short chain stays the bike looks well placed to handle just about everything you could throw at it. Add in the 170mm forks and you know this is a gravity fed machine that will be hungry for the downhills. The Range features Gravity Tune and ART Suspension too, as well as Size Scaled Tubing which allows the engineers to tune the stiffness and weight of each bike according to the rider size.

OK So the Norco post wouldn’t be complete without some FatBike action would it? Well here is the Sasquatch for 2016, looking fast in white, all white bikes are quicker than any other colour, we know this for a fact… The bike features a new frame design for 2016 and can handle tyres up to 5″ wide, which should allow you to ride across water, and other soft surfaces such as snow and sand with ease. The Big Foot is the other bike in the range and there is an electric version of that too.

Norco have a huge range of kids bikes for 2016, so now there is no excuse for not getting the little ones out on the trails and away from the games consoles! They offer a fat bike, which is awesome but also the Fluid Series of kids focussed MTB’s. The cool thing about the Fluid is the wheel size options, 20″, 24″ and 26″ will mean the bikes can grow as your kids do. Naturally they have focussed on keeping the frames and components light so they are easy and fun to ride.

Norco have focussed on getting the geometry perfect for smaller people with low standover heights across the range. The bikes also feature 120mm of ART Suspension to ensure the kids can ride the same stuff you do without feeling out of their depth…
