Adidas 2016 Products at Eurobike
Adidas launched the Evil Eye Pro last year to widespread acclaim; the iconic glasses offer superior vision and protection on the trails. With a variety of lenses available for all conditions Adidas came to Eurobike with a neat trick up their sleeves. The all-new Vario lens for the Evil Eye Pro, this lens is reactive to heat and UV rays so it changes according to the conditions.
The lens has a range of 0-3 on the European standard, for the laymen out there the scale goes from 0 to 4, with 0 being clear and 4 offering protection in extreme conditions. To further give you an idea, you can’t actually drive a car with a pair of level 4 glasses on, so it is fair to say these new lenses cover the spectrum needed for riding.
The idea is to have just one lens for all conditions, no need to swap lenses mid ride or indeed ever. The lens changes to dark very quickly, it isn’t the fastest, but Adidas are still using the Base10 curve in the lens, which is as extreme as you can get. It takes less than a second to go dark and about 4-5 seconds to go from dark to light.
The lens starts reacting to conditions immediately however, so as you ride through the woods the changes are quick, it just takes a little longer to go through the entire spectrum from 0-3 and vice versa.
The Vario version of the Evil Eye Pro will be available in the shops soon and if you already have a pair the lens will be available as an after market addition too…
In other news, Adidas Eyewear have also taken over the casual side of the business and have 6 new styles to choose from that take some of the tech characteristics from their performance range. Now you can look good on and off the bike!
