Time for your latest ABSA Cape Epic update. You think you’ve put in the miles, but the guys at @iamspecialized will make you feel guilty you didn’t stay out longer, especially when they call 70KM a sprint!
Yesterday, we checked in with the support crew to get a firsthand look at the people working tirelessly behind the scenes, and today, we take a look at the gear. Annika and Ariane have been dominating on the S-Works Era, while Sauser and Kulhavý are riding the S-Works Epic and Fast Trak Tires with protective Grid casings. Their bikes have been custom-painted for the event, and afterwards, will be auctioned off with the proceeds going directly to Songo.Info.
Moving onto today’s stage. At only 70 kilometers, it’s bound to be more of a cross country sprint to the line. There’s a great deal of singletrack along the course, and with early morning showers, the riders expect it to be a fast one. Each team will be looking to solidify their leads, because after today, only 90km separate them from the overall victory.
