Martyn Ashton Releases Road Bike Party 2 Film!!

YES!! It’s actually here!! Despite all odds, mountain bike trials legend Martyn Ashton has completed his incredible new film, with a little help from some strong friends – chiefly Danny MacAskill and Chris Akrigg – to make his whacky ideas of what’s possible on a road bike come true. Following the massive YouTube success of the original Road Bike Party film in 2012, Martyn has been secretly working on a sequel, however his accident during a bicycle trials demo at Silverstone on 1st September cast doubt as to whether it would ever be finished. Proving he’s still got the determination and creative vision he’s always shown, dislocating his T9 and T10 vertebrae leaving him a paraplegic and wheelchair user hasn’t stopped him getting the film completed, just in a slightly different guise…

His positive outlook, sense of humour and pragmatic approach are inspiring. “It’s very different to what I planned, but I’m really starting to love it and care for it¨ Martyn says of the finished film. “It’s a brilliant collection – you can lose the fact that we’re on a road bike as it just looks like a great piece of riding. The first Road Bike Party was all about it being a road bike, but this one, the road bike doesn’t get a chance – the stuff that we do collectively is beyond what would be ‘normal’ for a trials bike. It’s exceptional.”

Lycra-clad trials legend Martyn Ashton’s first Road Bike Party was a YouTube sensation, so a sequel HAD to be made, bigger and better than before! Martyn was in the middle of filming when his life was transformed by an accident during a trials display which has left him paralysed from the waist down. Courage, determination and great friends have helped Martyn to complete his vision for what a Road Bike Party is.
