Cannondale UK team rider Lee Craigie took the top honours in the senior women’s race at Cathkin Braes, Glasgow on the hot, dusty 5.5-kilometre circuit which will be home to the Commonwealth Games race in 2014 . Lee rode a perfect race and crossed the line some two minutes ahead of her nearest rival. Her bike of choice for the demanding track was the Cannondale F29 Ultimate.

A delighted Lee commented: “The win really does mean the absolute world to me, the course, the backdrop to my city, the people that were rooting for me, just the whole build up to today”.

She added “From when I first started riding mountain bikes this is the most special race I’ve ever won. I’m from this area, I actually live in Inverness but my family are still here so I’ve been able to come and ride the course over the last few months.I was pretending I was riding in the Commonwealth Games today and just getting caught up with the atmosphere in my head and I think that helped a bit. The course is fast, it’s a proper race course, it could do with being a bit more technical in places but when you ride it, you have to be a good bike rider to ride it and carry the speed through it, it’s all about keeping the flow.”
