Trek Bicycle UK has launched a website for the purpose of selling bikes used in demo, media, and show fleets directly to consumers in the UK.
The site, found by going to http://www.trekdemosale.co.uk, will house bikes used at various demo events around the UK, as well as media bikes, and items used in displays at trade and consumer shows.
Customers will be able to purchase bikes by contacting Trek UK. Upon completion of the sale, bikes will be sent to the buyers’ local Trek retailer for collection.
The site will allow Trek UK to sell bikes used in various marketing-related activities to customers seeking a deal on a bike that has been used. By involving local Trek retailers in the transaction, Trek is able to maintain the relationship with its dealer network.
“This site helps us solve a problem within our marketing department, and warehouse,” said Nigel Roberts, general manager of Trek UK. Dealers are offered the first chance to purchase these bikes, but we always have a stockpile left over. This is a solution that allows us to sell bikes that consumers want, while still working closely with our retailers to facilitate the delivery of the bikes.”
Each bike will be pictured, with a description of its condition and price. Bikes will carry a one year warranty covering manufacturing defects.
