Fox Racing Shox 2017 Eurobike
Features / Thu 22nd Sep, 2016 @ 12:00 am
Fox had all the good stuff on display at Eurobike; their range is all encompassing catering for the XC whippet right up to the DH shredder and everything in between. The big news is the Transfer seatpost a dropper that will no doubt be finding it’s way onto a lot of bikes this year. Also, the new moto-inspired GRIP damper gets added to the forks while support for the new Boost 110 front axle standard is added too.
Transfer Seatpost
The new dropper post is cable actuated, unlike the hydraulic system used by some other brands. This makes it easier to maintain and also easier to fit onto bikes aftermarket without having to worry about getting air in the system when cutting cables. Fox have also worked on the lever force to provide a consistent feel to the post throughout your ride.
The return speed can be modulated to avoid a smack in the balls, and there is a tool free disconnect to make removing and installing it easy. Available in 100mm, 125mm and 150mm there should be something here for everyone. Finished off with a stunning Kashima coat and a tidy looking lever that has the option of left or right installation it’s a well-polished product that we can’t wait to get on the bike!
GRIP Damper
This new damper uses the FIT Sealed cartridge technology combined with a coil sprung independent floating piston. GRIP allows excess oil to purge through specially designed ports at the top of the damper to maintain consistent damping and increase durability. Performance Series forks offer Open, Medium, and Firm modes with additional micro-adjust between settings.
Boost 110
The new wider axle standard is now available for 32, 34 and 36 forks across the whole range. This allows you to get a stiffer front end, and the standard does seem to be where the MTB industry is headed in the future.
X2 Lever
The X2 Lever offers a dual position on the shock; you can set it between Open and Firm. Rebound, low-speed and high-speed compression is adjusted using a Hex key to keeping the lever body neat and tidy.
