Leogang Bikepark’s new Kiddy Park
The Bikepark Leogang, one of Europe’s biggest and most renowned bike parks, turns their focus towards children by creating the biggest kids bike park in Europe. The first ever kids event in the new park will be the SCOTT Junior Trophy in June. Children and parents can look forward to a season packed full of riding fun.
The summer season in Bikepark Leogang started on May 9th. On the same date the “nipper” bike enthusiasts kicked off their riding season in the newly expanded kids bike park.
Last week Bikepark manager, Kornel Grundner, and Stefan Pühringer, head of Saalfelden Leogang tourism, had the honor of starting the park build. Then Leogang’s shapers from “Bergkraft” started scooping and shaping at full speed to get the Kids Mini Bikepark finished in time for the season opening last Thursday.

On May 9th the following sections of Europe’s biggest kids bike park were be opened:
Kiddy Park
The kids jumping course is equipped with lots of fun features including 8 wooden elements and 15 dirt obstacles. To keep the little shredders safe, none of these elements are higher than 50cm. The course is designed specifically for the young riders up to 14yrs old. The course is also suitable for practice sessions during bike school lessons. The course is one meter wide and is covered with greenstone.
Freeride
The freeride track contains two steep wooden berms, tables, doubles, rollers, kickers and fun North Shore elements. The track features everything to prepare young riders for the bigger 500m-freeride trail. Riders can be transported to the top of the track via the comfortable rope belt conveyor.
Drop Line
The line consists of drops from five different heights – 50cm, 80cm, 100cm, 130cm and 150cm. It has a 20m approach with a 10m landing and 20m run-out. The drop will be constructed lineally, in order to completely focus on the drop training.
Long Turn Line
This element is to teach kids how to correctly enter and exit a turn. Riders can catch the comfortable rope belt conveyor to the start of the track.
Short Turn Line
Consecutive short turns can help to perfect your cornering technique and riding flow. It stimulates reaction time and trains techniques useful on bigger trails. Riders can catch the comfortable rope belt conveyor to the start of the track.
Not enough? The Kids Mini Pumptrack, which is still under construction, will be opened on May 16th. It starts with a slightly elevated starting ramp, made out of wood and dirt, then the course is equipped with plenty of tables, rollers and doubles. As the name “pumptrack” already suggests, it is possible to ride the complete round without pedaling, but only by “pumping” the bike throughout the course. Because the track is made from dirt, it will only be possible to ride the Kids Mini Pumptrack in dry weather conditions.
The Kids Mini Bikepark is another investment by Saalfelden Leogang, which aims to make the bike park and the entire region more attractive for family visits as well as to directly support the young riders.
The first real competition on the new Kids Mini Bikepark will be the SCOTT Junior Trophy. Europe’s biggest kids bike series – presented by Saalfelden Leogang in cooperation with its new bike sponsor SCOTT during the Out of Bounds Festival (from June 20th – 23rd) – is more about having fun than about serious competition. Kids between the ages of 3 and 16 years will start in different age groups and compete for their first official podium place and some nice prizes.
