Northern Ireland Gearing up for Largest Ever Mountain Bike Festival
Mountain bikers from all over Ireland are flocking to the Rostrevor Mountain Bike Trails powered by Chain Reaction Cycles this weekend to take part in the first ever Rostrevor Mountain Bike Festival.

This event which is expected to attract over 500 riders during the May Day bank holiday weekend and has been designed to showcase the new trails which are due to open to the public next week.
With just under 50km of red and black trails including two of the first official downhill trails in Ireland, Rostrevor has been described by former Irish Downhill Champion and local MTB legend, Glyn O’Brien, as some of the finest trails to ever set wheels on!
Glyn, who is organising this weekend’s festival, said: “The trails are just out of this world; the descents are as epic as the views and the two downhill trails are up there with any others I ever ridden.
“We want to do the trails justice this weekend and so have organised the largest ever mountain bike festival to take place in Northern Ireland and with a mix of Cross-Country, Downhill and Enduro style races on offer it is attracting mountain bikers from far and wide.”
The Rostrevor Mountain Bike Festival has been designed as a celebration of the newly constructed trails in the Mourne Mountains and tops off an incredible four weeks which has seen over 110km of purpose-built mountain biking trails opened across Northern Ireland.
Chris Armstrong from MountainBikeNI.com explains, “Northern Ireland has always been recognised as having an ideal landscape for mountain biking trails and for over a decade we have been working hard to get these facilities on the ground. To open four brand new trails centres in as many weeks has been incredible and has generated huge interest in the sport.”
