Although the weather gods looked like they were following suit with this years EWS wash outs, race day for round one of the Italian Superenduro came good. Hero corners and some epic trails, made for some world class racing.
The first round of the 2017 Superenduro season took place in Central Italy’s medieval town of Gualdo Tadino. The village is well known for its clean and pure springs and art of hand worked pottery. On the other hand the unspoiled trails lead to an intense race with unpredictable results, getting even more difficult due to the heavy rain of the night before the start.
5 Stages, 40km of total race, 1.800 meters of climbing and almost 25min of crono stages.
Matteo Raimondi and Alia Marcellini got the race tracks cracked and won the opening Round of the season with a consistent time advantage over the other racers.
