At a Glance
The 2010 Drop Helmet from Bell certainly looks the part, the gold glitter in the graphic is a class touch and the black and teal colour scheme isn’t too “yoof” There are of course a multitude of options in terms of colour ways. The helmet comes in three sizes Small 53-55cm, Medium 56-58cm and Large 59-61cm. Cooling is taken care of with three large intake vents on the front and 4 exhaust vents, 2 on the side and 2 on the back. There are channels on the interior of the helmet to direct the airflow around your head and keep you cool.
On the Trail
The Bell feels very comfy on your head; there is plenty of space inside for your ears to pop back into shape after pulling it on. At only 2.27lb’s it is the lightest composite helmet on test and you hardly notice it on your head. Riding down the trail the airflow around the helmet is good and the large vents really help to keep you cool. If you sweat lots though don’t fear as the liner of the helmet can be completely removed so you can wash it.
Overall
Light and inexpensive, retailing at just £99.99 the Bell is certified as a DH MTB lid and should offer excellent protection in case of impact. Striking looks and good airflow should put this helmet on your wish list.
