Bluegrass was set up to fill a gap in the market, they set out to make affordable quality helmets that offered a top spec at a price that many could afford. At £135 the Brave is their top of the range lid. You won’t find any fancy carbon here, but it does feature a fibreglass composite shell, inside is an EPS foam core and the liner is removable and washable and is easy to remove and out back in. 5 sizes mean you should be able to get a snug fit.

The Brave features no less than 15 vents, plus the Airflow Chin design, which the team came up with from suggestions from their pro riders. The venting in the chin section is huge and this increases airflow and subsequently performance. On the trail you certainly notice the air rushing through this part of the lid. Fastening is taken care of with a double D buckle, which is easy to undo when you have your gloves on.

Our medium lid weighed in at 938 grams.
