The Bell Super is an exceedingly well thought-out lid. Purpose built for the enduro riders and racers out there it offers excellent coverage combined with innovative features. Firstly it has been designed with full goggle management in mind, the visor can be raised by 30 degrees allowing the goggles to be placed underneath. You can also remove the visor and add the goggle retention clips should you wish to look totally retro. Styled on the Bell Custom 500 motorsport lid from the 50’s it has an air of classic style about it coupled with some modern technology such as full In-Mold construction.
There are 25 vents to keep you cool, it arguably sports more vents than any other enduro lid on the market. It also features some rather clever ‘Overbrow’ ventilation to ensure your forehead stays cool. An integrated Go Pro mounting system uses Velcro to attach the camera to the lid in an unobtrusive manner. Finishing the helmet off is Bell’s Speed Dial Fit system and a generous amount of anti-bacterial X-Static padding.
On The Trail
The Super is a very comfortable helmet to wear, the X-Static padding is very plush and there aren’t any noticeable pressure points. Coverage is good with the lid reaching far down the back of the head. The Speed Dial Fit System works really well and it is easy to find the perfect fit, even in gloves. When riding the numerous vents provided an excellent flow of air and we really liked the Overbrow ventilation too, which considerably reduces the amount of sweat build up on your forehead. Goggles integrate with the Super neatly, especially when you want to take them off and can just put them under the visor out of the way. The Go Pro mount is a nice touch, but perhaps not the sturdiest of fixings, ensure you crank those straps up as tight as you can to minimise camera shake.
Overall
Stylish, packed with attention to detail and enduro specific features such as the goggle management system and great airflow. We loved the Overbrow ventilation set up and never got too hot in the Super, even on the longest of rides!
