With a carbon faceplate it’s no wonder the Crank Brothers Iodine 3 wins the contest in terms of weight. This all-mountain stem has had a pretty major update this year, and the steerer clamp wedge has been refreshed to be a little more traditional with a 2-bolt clamp design. There is still a wedge there, but it is lighter and tidies up the look of the stem when it is on the steerer tube. The carbon faceplate has been updated too and the 4-bolt clamp system claims to be 30% stiffer than the previous model. The stack height has also been reduced and the new stem feels stiffer on the trails, when you consider its weight it is incredibly solid.
