FRAME, DRIVE AND POWER
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it – the award-winning Decoy combines a carbon fiber mainframe with an aluminum rear triangle and rolls on an agile mixed-wheel configuration. When it comes to the drive unit, don’t be fooled by the familiar appearance of the Shimano EP801; this is an all-new motor. Updates include higher peak power, enhanced acceleration at high cadence, and improved weather sealing, alongside freeshift/autoshift compatibility. The cherry on top comes from YT Industries’ in-house developed 720Wh battery, which brings maximum range to your rides. Not content with off-the-shelf solutions, the unique construction shifts the cells as low as possible for superior handling and control.
SPECIFICATION
Up front, suspension is handled by the Fox 38 Float Performance fork, with a GRIP damper and floating axle chassis for dependable performance in the rough. Out back is a Fox DHX Performance coil shock with an independent two-position lever and increasing spring rates as you climb the size range (400lbs M-L, 450lb XL, 500lbs XXL). Shifting performance is key: the 12-speed Shimano drivetrain comprises an SLX mech and cassette but features an uprated XT shifter for an improved, tactile feel. The 160mm crank length here is notable and helps mitigate pedal strikes on technical climbs. There is no shortage of grip with the sticky Maxxis Assegai MaxxGrip/DHR II MaxxTerra combo, which pairs with the proven Crankbrothers Synthesis Enduro aluminum wheels. Finishing touches include an E*Thirteen chain device, Sram Code R brakes, a Renthal cockpit, a YT Postman dropper (150mm M, 170mm L-XL, 200mm XXL), and an SDG Bel Air 3.0 saddle.
